The historical origin of the hotel location reaches centuries, actually two millenniums into the past. In times of the Roman Empire, Emona (modern Ljubljana) was a key strategic settlement. The year 2014 marks the 2000th anniversary of the founding of ancient town. The hotel site is located in the territory which was then at the heart of Emona. A military metal crafting workshop was placed in the exact spot where Antiq Hotel stands now. In the Middle Ages, the site hosted a carpenter shop. Joining two buildings from the 16th century rendered a unique architecture of the Antiq Hotel, which retains many of the attractive original characteristics.
The Antiq Hotel logo depicts Hercules wearing a lion skin. Hercules is the Roman name for Heracles, Greek mythological hero that joined the Argonauts in the quest for the Golden Fleece. Legend has it that it was Jason and the Argonauts who actually founded Emona. The Hercules fountain at the Gornji trg square, just a few steps from the Antiq Hotel, reminds of ancient heroic times.
Antiq Hotel is the very first boutique hotel in Ljubljana. Being a family property, everything is attended to with great care. It has been renovated recently.
This is a place for business and leisure. A place you will love and enjoy. Welcome!
